Films To Kick Off Your Weekend

What better way to enjoy the weekend than with a few fun movies?

Here are this week's movie suggestion post.

1. Catching Faith

This movie is about a lady called Alexa Taylor whose life, on the outside, seems to picture perfect. Although she's a stay-at-home mum, her husband is a success in his career, her daughter is a straight A student and her son is a football star. But after her son is caught drinking at a party, he is suspended from the football team and with the combination of other problems, Alexa starts to realise everything isn't as perfect as it may seem. She begins a journey of rediscovering God's plans for her life and what exactly her priorities are.

This movie teaches a lesson on integrity; doing the right thing even when no-one is watching and in spite of the consequences and scorn that may follow. It also teaches about letting go and allowing God to have control over your life instead of trying to navigate it on your own.

2. Breakthrough

Breakthrough is based on a true story of a teenager named John Smith, who falls through the ice of a frozen lake and is trapped under water for 15 minutes. He is finally rescued and rushed to the hospital where he fights for his life while his parents, pastor and his loved ones continue to pray for a miracle.

I actually cried at a point in this movie. I loved how even when everyone else was ready to give up, John's mother continued to hope, and pray that John would make it through. She even continued to speak positivity and life over her son when others only believed the worst. It's a movie worth watching.

3. Catching Faith 2

In Catching Faith 2, Alexa Taylor has to deal with a whole new set of family drama. She starts her dream job but must also take care of her mother with Alzheimer's. On top of that, her son returns home after being cut from his college football team due to an injury and her daughter is getting married to the son of her ex-best friend.

Through all their problems, the Taylors learn that with God, they can do all things and that even when things look bad, God is always using it to do something great in our lives.
