Merry Christmas lovelies!!!🎅🎄 Can't believe we're at this time of the year already. God has been so good and He really deserves all the praise.
Today's song is Joy Unto the World by The Afters. It's a song from their recent album and is definitely a Christmas bop with the true message of Christmas.
On this day, the Saviour Christ was born in a manger. All prophecies and revelations of the prophets of old were aimed at the coming of Jesus Christ to earth as a man, to be our salvation. He was and is indeed the long awaited Saviour who will reign forever.
Here's a brief backstory on why Christmas is celebrated on 25th December, despite this not being the exact day of Jesus' birth. The festive event used to be the Roman winter solstice of the rebirth of the sun. But as Christianity began to take over in the Roman empire, the day was changed to celebrate the birth of the 'Son of Righteousness': Jesus. So even though it wasn't originally the birth date of Jesus, it is a day to remember and commemorate His birth, as it was an important event. It marked the day that salvation came to mankind.
We rarely celebrate the birth of a historical figure; it's usually the death. But Jesus' birth is celebrated.
We give gifts but Jesus was God's gift to us. We sing Christmas carols but that tradition began with the angels who sang,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
(Luke 2:14)
This Christmas as we go about sharing gifts, eating Christmas turkeys and spending time with our families, let's not forget to show our gratitude to God for giving us the ultimate gift that allowed us to reconcile with Him.
I hope you enjoy the song and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Love you all!
