Jesus, Friend of Sinners

Jesus, Friend of Sinners - Casting Crowns

As children of God, we've been called to be a light in the world; a light that draws others to Christ; a light that saves the lost from a life of darkness.

But sometimes, our actions and words are anything but Christ-like. We've followed the standards of the world so much that there's no differentiation between us and the unbelievers. And often, we tend to unknowingly push people away from God, rather than bringing them to Him.

Always looking around but never looking up I'm so double minded
A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided

The way we treat others can also hinder them from coming to know Christ. We condemn, judge, stigmatise and look down on even our fellow members of Christ, never mind the unbelievers. How can we bring others to God when there's no unity within the church?

Even in church, we have various 'groups' and 'cliques'. We only hang around a certain group of people instead of fostering a spirit of love and unity with each and every member.

No one knows what we're for only against when we judge the wounded
What if we put down our signs crossed over the lines and loved like You did

Christ didn't die for us so that we could judge others or discriminate against them. Our goal as children of God is to be the reflection of Christ in every single aspect of our lives. We were also lost before coming to know Him. And if we've been saved by His grace, we need to let others know about it too and help them find Christ. You may be the only Bible someone reads, so let your life show the light of Christ in you.

Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors

Remember that God loves everyone, despite their background or sin. We must also do the same. Yes, even though someone sins, it doesn't reduce God's love for them and neither should it reduce your love. We were called to love unconditionally as our Father does.

Stay blessed and stay a blessing
