Do you ever just have these moments where all these great ideas come into mind and you feel like you can accomplish so much? This feeling lasts a few days or weeks but then for some reason your passion slowly starts to fade away and you're left feeling unaccomplished and not good enough.
This tends to happen to me a lot. Take, for example, my new year goals. I'm sure everyone would agree that new year resolutions and goals are absolutely difficult to keep if you're not determined and focused enough. Even with all the planning and measures you put in place to make sure you achieve those goals, you will have periods where you can't really be bothered and feel like giving up.
For me, one problem that tends to get in the way of achieving my goals is that, I let myself get sucked into being too comfortable with the stage I'm in. When you especially feel like you're making progress at a particular stage in life, you tend to get a bit too comfortable with staying in that level. It's too much effort to go higher so you just relax where you are. But relaxing for too long can cause you to lose all progress and take you back to square one.
Proverbs says something about learning from the ant. It says in Proverbs 6:6-11:
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

This scripture reminds me of how God encourages us to be diligent and hardworking in and out of season. There's nothing wrong with rest; rest is good for the body, mind and soul. But what becomes a problem is letting that rest turn into laziness. When you get too comfortable with your situation, you get lazy and we all know that all play and no work, makes Jack a lazy boy.
God wants us to excel and give our all in everything that we do. He created us to do great things. But we can't do those things if we give up or stay within our comfort zone after taking one step. Persevere and overcome your idle state. Don't let time slip away when you know you could be doing something more productive to help yourself grow, whether spiritually, physically, intellectually or mentally.
This is just a little something I wanted to share because I've realised that I myself have become a bit too relaxed these days. I think I've rested enough though. I want to make the most out of my time and if that means putting a stop to certain things that I know won't benefit me or help me grow, then I'll need to do that.
I hope this helps anyone who might be feeling the same way as me.
