Last Thursday was a very special day for me. Why?
Because I turned 20!
The BIG 2-0.
No longer a teenager. Although I still feel the same. I doubt however that people wake up on the day of their birthday feeling like a completely new person. At least not me anyway. My new age does give me the opportunity though to take a look at the last 19 years of my life and learn a few things about myself.
As I've said multiple times, you can't change the past, but you can learn from it. Although looking back, I know that if I could have changed a few things (or even a lot of things) about my life decisions, I would have.
For today's post, I guess I'd just like to tell my younger self a few things that I've learned now. It can't change much, but it can help me continue to grow to be a better person.
A LETTER TO LITTLE ME
Dear younger me,
You need to remember that God lets everything happen for a reason. Wherever He takes you, whoever He intends for you to meet, it's all a part of His Grand Will for your life. His Good, Pleasing and Perfect Will.
Cherish your family, because they're more important than you realise. You'll argue and you'll fight, but your differences don't mean barriers. Hug them and compliment them. Let them know you love them and that you'll be there for them, with words as much as actions. Get to know them more before a time comes when you're all too busy.
Don't be afraid to open up to new people. Be bold and confident, but most importantly, be you. Say the words you want to say and don't keep quiet when the time comes for you to speak. So many people can be influenced for the better if only you just open your mouth and let the words fall out.
Your addictions do not define you. You are forgiven and restored by the blood of the Lamb. A child of God is who you are and no chain can keep you bound. You are free in Christ. Don't be afraid to open up to those around you because you never know how much they can help you grow and overcome your obstacles.
Opportunities are going to come your way. A chance to meet people from around the world and a chance to make a difference. Don't be afraid to seize all those opportunities and make the absolute most of them. Leave no regrets.
You're not perfect, and you'll never be as long as you're on this earth. Therefore you will do the wrong thing at times and make mistakes. Allow yourself to make those mistakes and don't try so hard to get everything picture perfect. Your flaws can be beautiful too.
You are beautiful, no matter what others look like. Don't put yourself down. Love your whole self and be just as beautiful, if possible, more beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. Your kind nature is a true gem.
Finish what you start, at all cost. Don't start and stop halfway. You never know what marvellous masterpiece you'll create if you just put your mind to it.
Use your time profitably. Sleep is sweet but don't overdo it. Less is accomplished in the land of dreams. Wake up and go for it.
Don't wait until you're older before you serve God. It doesn't get any easier like you think it will. The time to develop your relationship with God is now, not later. He is patient but don't keep Him on the sidelines any longer. Let the Holy Spirit be your main coach and obey what God asks you to do, no matter how scary it may seem.
Most importantly, live for God and continue to be a light in this dark world. Take heart, for He has overcome. All you need to do is trust and obey.
For there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Lots of love,
Eunice xx
What would you tell your younger self? What advice do you wish you could have known at that younger stage in life? Feel free to let me know in the comments section below or email/message me on social media. I would love to hear your words and perhaps gain some words of wisdom from you too. Have a great day lovelies.
Stay blessed and stay a blessing.
@Emmanuella I need to keep reminding myself that the more time I waste the less opportunities I have to accomplish more😂❤
Really interesting title and post...I totally agree with less is accomplished in the land of dreams. Been there many times :D
God bless you for sharing
