Hi Guys!
So from the previous post, one of the types of love I defined was Agape love. Just to refresh your memory, this is an unconditional, sacrificial love that God showed and continues to show to us, and one that He expects us to imitate and share with the rest of the world.
For today's post, here are a few quotes on Agape love that might give you a deeper understanding into what it actually is.
Remember to go out today filled with the spirit of love. The little things matter, even if it doesn't seem like it. Your smile, your words and your little acts of kindness go a long way in brightening up someone's day and showing love. So step out today knowing that you're representing God's definition of love.
Have an amazing day lovelies
1.
“Agape love is selfless love . . . the love God wants us to have isn’t just an emotion but a conscious act of the will—a deliberate decision on our part to put others ahead of ourselves. This is the kind of love God has for us.” ~Billy Graham,
2.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16 (KJV)
3.
“Agape doesn't love somebody because they're worthy. Agape makes them worthy by the strength and power of its love. Agape doesn't love somebody because they're beautiful. Agape loves in such a way that it makes them beautiful.”
~ Rob Bell
4.
Agape is something of the understanding, creative, redemptive goodwill for all men.
It is a love that seeks nothing in return.
It is an overflowing love; it's what theologians would call the love of God working in the lives of men.
And when you rise to love on this level, you begin to love men, not because they are likeable, but because God loves them.
~Martin Luther King Jr.
5.
"Agape is disinterested love.
Agape does not begin by discriminating between worthy and unworthy people, or any qualities people possess. It begins by loving others for their sakes.
Therefore, agape makes no distinction between friend and enemy; it is directed toward both." - Martin Luther King Jr.
6.
"To be loved by God is the highest relationship, the highest achievement, and the highest position in life."
~Henry Blackaby
7.
"I [Jesus] have made you [God] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
~John 17:26 (NIV)
