A Love Poem

Hello guys!

So for today's post we're blessed to have a piece by my friend Keziah Barnes. She's honestly an amazing poet and I'm so glad she agreed to do this. Her poem today is centred around this month's theme of love. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

Love is a word so misused

And "i love you" are words so easy to say

But it is also so misunderstood

And many of us have a wrong picture of

What love is

Cause what we experience

Is based on feelings and happiness and the number of butterflies in our belly.

But love is not a feeling

It is not how popular you are in school

How many roses you receive on Valentine's day

How many likes you get on your posts

Love is not holding hands and giving hugs to strangers

It is not cheesy letters and serenades

It is not sunsets and diamond rings

Love cannot be found in man-made things

All those things are bound to disappear

But real love is everlasting.

Love is patient

Love is kind

Love is beautiful

Love is divine

Love is a gift for all humankind

A gift that cannot be described

With human words

Love is mysterious and full of surprise

Love is in the smiles of babies in the morning

Concealed in the smell of a cup of coffee

Love is cheering at your brother's football matches

And staying up late for your best friend

Love is favourite songs

And inside jokes that only you and your mate can understand

Love is crying and not being ashamed of your tears

Remembering birthdays from a thousand years

Love is whole and it never fails

It keeps its promises and perseveres till the end

It doesn't look for mistakes and flaws

It sees beauty in everything and in all

It's able to climb mountains and swim entire oceans

Just to see your face and ask how you are

It doesn't cause wounds but it honors your scars

It doesn't own anything but it's ready to give you everything

And like Sun

It is always there

Even when you can't see it

Human love can come and go

But real love stays

because real love is eternal.

Love never goes away.

Love is patient

Love is kind

And Jesus

Is love's name.
