Today I wanted to share a brief word of encouragement on dealing with new beginnings and taking new opportunities.
I know in the times that we're in, a lot of us have been forced to start things afresh or get used to a new way of life. Things aren't really the same as before and no-one really knows when or even if they'll go back to the way they used to be.
So even as you step into this new norm or way of life, I want you to look within yourself and ask how exactly you're going to react to this change. Are you going to just go with the flow of things and see where you end up? Are you going to try your best to get back to the way you used to live your life? Or are you going to take this opportunity to do something different?
It's like when you come to Christ. You don't get saved just to go back to the way you used to live. After accepting Christ into your heart, you make it a point to live a changed life. You're not supposed to go back to your previous life of sin. That would be like a criminal who's been given freedom, only to willingly go and put the chains back on.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. ~2 Corinthians 5:17
Many people have died within the past few months. The fact that you're alive isn't because of who you are or what you've done or even what you have. It's only by grace. And God has a purpose for you even after all this chaos. God is honestly doing something new in each and every one of our lives. It's up to us to avail ourselves, to just listen for His instructions and to obey.
Don't be afraid when new doors are opened to you.
Don't be afraid of change. If the caterpillar was afraid of change and refused to let it happen, how would it turn into a beautiful butterfly?
Change can be scary, but the whole process can be worth it. So when a good opportunity presents itself, don't be afraid to grab it and go through with it. If it's in the will of God, then there's surely something good at the end of it all.
So go out today and purpose within yourself to make the most out of every good new opportunity that is coming your way. Don't be afraid of the change, no matter how frightening it may seem. Trust in God and persevere. And in the end, it'll all be worth it.
