Proverbs 13:3

Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.

Proverbs 13:3

There's a wise saying that Maturity is realising how many things don't require your comment. I couldn't agree more with it, especially now that I've grown up. I used to always want to have the last say in an argument. And yes, even now, there are still small traces of that in my conversations with others. But compared to when I was younger, I've learned now that I don't always need to continue talking. Sometimes, silence really is golden.

I know people who will comment negatively on anything and everything under the sun. It's like they just need to mention something terrible about something or someone to feel good. But this way of life, as the Scripture says, leads to ruin.

Our words have power. If you didn't know, I'm telling you now. What you say has the power to destroy or build; the decision is in your hands.

Not everything requires your comment. We have to learn how to observe silence when it's not time for us to speak out. We don't always need to have the last say in the argument. Peace of mind and a peaceful life is far better than life full of conflict. And with our words, we choose whether we want to create peace or conflict.

Learn to guard your lips and only speak when it's necessary to do so. Ask God for strength to keep your mouth closed when the time arises for you to do so, and to bring about peace in the environment around you.

Stay blessed and stay a blessing.
