Happy New Month everyone!
Been a minute since you heard from me but I'm back now with a lot of great things planned for this month. Can't believe we're in July already! What a blessing to have made it this far in the year. I know that no matter what life is throwing our way, the fact that we have life is a great gift in itself, one we should be grateful for and cherish.
To start off the month, I'll be sharing six new song suggestions. With each song I'll also be sharing a little bit about the lyrics that inspire me most.
Hope you enjoy them.
1. Guardian God - Kalley
Source: Bethel Music - YouTube
LYRICS:
Even in the night, even in the quiet
Even if my eyes can't see the light
I know
You're so persistent, faithful as the rise of the dawn
These lyrics from the first verse remind us that even in our most difficult and hopeless situations, God is there. He is faithful and will always stay with us, even if we don't necessarily feel like He is near.
2. Not Backing Down - Blanca
Source: Blanca - YouTube
LYRICS:
'Cause if you don't stand for nothing
You'll always fall for something
This isn't how it's meant to be
It's easy to say you stand for something, but an entirely different thing to actually show it. Whether it's your principles, beliefs or opinions, if your lifestyle doesn't speak for you, your words alone might not prove a thing.
It's worse if you don't have anything to hold on to. As the lyrics say, if you have nothing to stand, it's easy for you to fall for everything that people say to you. If you don't have the right beliefs and principles to keep you grounded, you'll easily be blown away by any wind of deception that comes your way.
3. Keep On Coming Through - Jonathan Traylor
Source: Jonathan Traylor - YouTube
LYRICS:
As I sing your praise
Let worry fade and
All my hopes restored
Let my memories
Remind me of what you did before
It's easy to let our worries overwhelm us, but no matter what, God comes through for us in the end. During difficult times, I find that praising God provides a significant source of strength. Through praise, we're also reminded of the way God delivered us from difficulties in the past.
Surely the God who saved you before will do it again. Just keep trusting Him to come through.
4. God Is Good - Jonathan McReynolds
Source: Jonathan McReynolds - YouTube
LYRICS:
May your struggles keep you near the cross
And may your troubles show that you need God
And may your battles end the way they should
And may your bad days prove that God is good
And may your whole life prove that God is good
This is a really simple song that provides a lot of encouragement, especially in trying times. May our troubles and hardships not push us away from God, but rather pull us closer to God.
One thing I learnt recently is that 'Suffering strengthens intimacy'. In our times of trouble, turning to God is always the best solution. He can provide a strength and comfort that no-one else can.
5. Jireh - Elevation Worship and Maverick City
Source: Elevation Worship - YouTube
LYRICS:
If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor
How much more will He clothe you?
How much more will He clothe you?
If He watched over every sparrow
How much more does He love you?
How much more does He love you?
I just had to include this song, even though it might be a little overplayed at home (thanks to me, of course). These lyrics are my favourite part of Jireh. If God can care so much for the flowers of the field and the birds in the sky, how much more will He love and provide for us? We who were made in His likeness and image.
No matter what, God loves us, and He will always be more than enough for us.
6. I'm Listening - Chris McClarney & Hollyn
Source: Chris McClarney - YouTube
LYRICS:
I don't wanna miss one word You speak
'Cause everything You say is life to me
I don't wanna miss one word You speak
Quiet my heart, I'm listening
God's Words are life and they bring healing, restoration and hope. He whispers peace to the raging storms in our hearts and to the chaos in our lives. We only have to be still, be quiet and hear Him speaking, whether it's through His Word (the Bible) or through His Holy Spirit that lives within us.
Hope you like these song suggestions. Let me know which ones you enjoy.
Stay blessed and stay a blessing.
