This well known Sunday school song tells of a light that we have within us that we're supposed to let out. Light is a very important feature. Its purpose is to make things seen and to eradicate darkness.
We, as children of God, have no ordinary light within us. The light that we have is brighter and more radiant than the Sun and the stars themselves. This light, is Jesus Christ. He fulfils the same purpose; He makes us see things in our life more clearly and He eradicates every darkness within us, in the form of sin and immorality.
We have been called out of the darkness of sin, into God's marvellous light, to declare His praises and tell others of His goodness, love and mercy. As children of this new life in Christ, God instructs us not to keep this light (Jesus) to ourselves. He wants us to share His Word and talk to others about Christ's sacrifice.
God also wants us to live as children of the light. We have been saved and snatched from our previous lives of sin, therefore, there is no need to go back to our old ways. Our actions must glorify God, especially as we are setting an example of Christ here on earth.
So share God's word with someone today, and remember that in everything you do, let it reflect Christ Jesus. Let your light shine!
