Mark 9:35

He sat down, called the disciples over to him and said, 'Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.'

Mark 9:35

Jesus called his disciples to Him and told them that if they wanted to be the greatest, they needed to be the least. Total opposites, right?

But what Jesus meant was that, they needed to live in humility and be willing to serve those around them. This involved helping others, no matter their background or social status, giving to those in need, treating others with love and not contempt.

Jesus himself came not to be served but to serve others. After all, He who was the Son of God, decided not to use the privileges that came with His position but rather lived the life of a mere human being just to die for a people that were unworthy of His sacrifice.

God wants us to follow the example of Christ and live humbly. Our possessions, our achievements, our talents; God wants those to be used to glorify His name, not ourselves. He wants us to treat others as we would like to be treated and He wants us to show His love to others in every aspect of our life.

To be first in the Kingdom of God, you are required to humble yourself and let Christ be revealed through you.

Stay blessed and stay a blessing.
