Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
Hebrews 13:17
Today's verse is telling us to submit to our leaders and have confidence in them. This is a call to obedience to those who are in authority, whether it be teachers, pastors, or even parents.
These days, it seems as though the youth are becoming more defiant and disobedient to authority, and the Bible warns us that in the last days children will become disobedient to their parents. This represents disobedience to leaders in general.
But we as believers should not find ourselves in this category. God has placed certain people over us for a purpose, and it is our responsibility to be submissive and not to make their jobs difficult. When we submit, we find that there is peace and harmony, as leaders are able to carry out their responsibilities with joy.
Yes, some leaders have the tendency to be overbearing and difficult, but God says that we should submit to them and not defy them. There are certain circumstances that are an exception to this rule, but in general, we are asked to show respect to our leaders through obedience. At the end of the day, God is watching us and will reward us accordingly for our obedience.
Stay blessed and stay a blessing.
