Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
When we accept Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour, and invite Him to live within us, we become a whole new being. No more are we slaves to sin, fear, addictions, etc; we are made free in Christ by His grace.
But this grace tends to often be taken advantage of. We are saved but still go around living our life of sin, thinking at the back of our minds that when we ask for forgiveness, God will give it to us. But God's forgiveness isn't something we even deserve, yet we take advantage of his leniency and mercy.
Today's scripture is telling us that, once we are saved, our lives should begin to reflect Christ. The things of our past life should be done away with. There may be some things you need to stop doing or people you need to stop seeing.
We are new creations in Christ, and we must act as He did; in all humility, actions and love.
